Job Information

ROLE OF THE JOB

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting daily patrols to monitor the performance of bus services across Northumberland. You will gather data on services, stations, and stops, ensuring that electronic displays are functioning correctly and stations are clean and well-maintained.

Interacting with passengers will be a significant part of your day. You will engage with them to discuss their travel experiences, provide information on fares and routes, and assist with wayfinding. You will also be responsible for supporting passengers with visible or hidden disabilities, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported throughout their journey.

In addition to assisting passengers, you will play a crucial role in gathering feedback. You will conduct regular passenger surveys and engage directly with bus users to identify any unmet needs and work towards solutions. You will also promote public transport, sharing the benefits of bus travel and encouraging more people to use the service.

This is an 18-month fixed-term post, funded until March 2026.

Requirements of the Job
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in giving advice and counselling service users.
  • Experience in engaging effectively with others and building productive relationships.
  • Experience in organizing and scheduling work or other resources.
  • This post is based in Morpeth but will involve significant daily outdoor working/travel around the county using the bus network, with some evening and weekend working. You will also need to drive a company vehicle at times, so a full driving license is required.
