Hays Legal is proud to partner with a top-tier British company specialising in construction, property development, and infrastructure services. With offices across the UK, this role is ideally based in our London office, offering very flexible working arrangements. The construction legal team consists of five dedicated lawyers, including a Head of Legal to whom you will report. Due to the business's rapid growth, they are seeking a paralegal on an interim basis, with a strong possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.

Your new role

As a paralegal, you will support our construction legal team with their increasing workload. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with budgeting and managing external counsel fees.
  • Providing administrative support to the construction legal team.
  • Helping to prepare and review legal documents and contracts.
  • Supporting the team with research and analysis of complex legal concepts.
  • Collaborating with the team to ensure seamless delivery of projects.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience as a paralegal, either in-house or in private practice.
  • Ideally, experience in interim positions (though not essential).
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to understand complex legal concepts.
  • Prior experience in construction law, particularly with JCT/NEC forms.
  • Immediate availability or a short notice period, as the start date is ASAP.

What you'll get in return

You will initially be on an hourly rate. The role comes with the opportunity of becoming permanent. Whilst this is an interim position, the company is happy to give you a notice period of two weeks and considerable work from home opportunities. It will be a great chance to work alongside seasoned construction lawyers in a collaborative, trusted legal team.
