Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cover Supervisor to join our team at Co-op Academy Priesthorpe. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of a teacher. You will cover lessons prepared by the teacher and contribute to the development of learning strategies to help raise achievement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in the classroom, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Cover lessons prepared by the teacher, using a range of teaching strategies to engage students
  • Contribute to the development of learning strategies to help raise achievement, working closely with teachers and other support staff
  • Research, prepare and coordinate resources to support teaching and learning
  • Manage behaviour in the classroom, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques
  • Assist with break and lunch time supervision, ensuring the safety and well-being of students

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and young people, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to use initiative and work flexibly, responding to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies, with the ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs
  • Ability to manage behaviour and de-escalate conflicts, using positive reinforcement and restorative practices
