Job Description

Job Title: Chief Engineer - Performance Optimization

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead our Performance Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Race Engineering group, maximizing the performance of our race cars, and providing day-to-day coaching within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Race Engineering group, including both factory and event-based activities
  • Maximize the performance of our race cars through effective planning, execution, and optimization
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance to team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance and efficiency
  • Work closely with other department leaders to ensure all objectives, projects, and deadlines are met within the set processes and metrics
  • Ensure the safe operation of both cars at events
  • Chair all Race Engineering group meetings and oversee all written reports from the team
  • Assume any responsibilities and duties delegated by the Head of Performance Engineering or their designee

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree, minimum 2:1
  • Robust technical background in racing car performance/vehicle dynamics
  • Strong and wide-ranging technical background covering all aspects involved in the design, construction, and operation of Formula 1 cars
  • Demonstrate rapid decision-making skills while working through problems in a scientific and analytical manner
  • Solid computer knowledge, including Microsoft office products
  • Ability to work long and flexible hours, including weekends, and extensive domestic and international travel
