The Business Assurance (BA) sector is central to this initiative, and we seek a Head of Business Assurance to refine our strategies, establish a robust framework, and implement consistent procedures alongside comprehensive reporting and trend analysis to enhance awareness and foster continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the file review and call monitoring strategy, including question sets, sampling, selection, post-review analysis/reporting, and subsequent training/action to uphold the highest standards; provide detailed reports on audited areas, potential risks, and improvement recommendations.
  • Manage forecasting reviews and associated resources while addressing specific emerging needs.
  • Continuously evaluate the BA process, propose enhancements, and drive implementation.
  • Share and promote best practices across the organization.
  • Identify and report on subpar practices, sharing recurring issues with all staff.
  • Provide coaching to staff as needed, in collaboration with line managers.
  • Act as a liaison across all Retail divisions regarding BA matters.
  • Oversee assigned projects and contribute to additional projects as necessary.
  • Support the BA Framework to provide risk-based assurance to Governance Committees regarding compliance with regulatory expectations and internal standards.
  • Address queries raised by the Business.
  • Review and assist with Near Misses.
  • Offer advice and recommendations on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and distribute reports/committee packs that capture key information, highlight risks, priorities, recommendations, and present findings to senior management teams.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the Business to ensure that corrective actions are implemented and monitored. Track identified actions and periodically assess progress.
  • Provide updates on the status of remedial action plans to facilitate decision-making and action.
  • Stay informed of all regulatory and legal changes that impact the role.
  • Ensure that up-to-date records are maintained on business systems at all times.
  • Respond appropriately to urgent issues as they arise.
Knowledge and Experience:
  • Strong commercial awareness and focus on the application of regulations within the insurance broking sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance principles, products, and services.
  • Experience in compliance, monitoring, or audit environments is preferred.
