Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at ACADEMICS. As a key member of our science department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Resource Preparation: Assist in the setup and organization of materials for science experiments, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  2. Resource Management: Handle the storage, transportation, and availability of laboratory resources, including stock control and supplier coordination.
  3. ICT Support: Facilitate the integration of technology into science lessons by managing laptops and data logging tools, ensuring seamless data collection and analysis.
  4. Waste Disposal: Safely manage the disposal of laboratory waste, including chemicals and biological substances, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratory facilities and liaise with the Site Manager to address maintenance needs, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  6. Technical Support: Provide expert advice and assistance to teachers and students during practical science sessions, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.
  7. Curriculum Assistance: Offer technical insights and help develop practical components of the science curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  8. Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety and security protocols in line with school policies and industry regulations.
  9. Training and Mentoring: Guide and mentor new technicians through the BSTTP, providing practical support and health and safety training, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
Requirements
  1. Demonstrated experience as a Science Technician or in a comparable technical role, with a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
  2. In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and best practices, with a focus on delivering high-quality technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of laboratories.
