At SGS, we are seeking a highly skilled Flameproof Certification Engineer to join our team of experts in the field of electrical and mechanical equipment assessment and certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of equipment designs to ensure compliance with IEC60079 series Standards.
- Prepare and issue assessment, certification, examination, and test reports in accordance with relevant procedure documents.
- Evaluate and assess drawing, photographic, and descriptive documentation to ensure equipment specifications meet relevant standards.
- Issue Certificates detailing equipment specifications, including any acceptable design variations, and referencing assessed documentation.
- Provide certification services for UKCA, ATEX, IECEx, and North American schemes.
- Communicate with manufacturers and their agents to discuss assessment and certification requirements.
- Estimate costs for assessment, testing, and certification exercises.
- Specify sample equipment and special requirements for complete assessment, testing, and certification exercises.
- Offer specialist advice and guidance to government departments, manufacturers, and users of equipment subject to certification by SGS.
- Review, check, and countersign the work of others in specific areas of work.
Requirements:
- Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering gained through higher education.
- Experience in assessing and certifying electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with relevant Ex Standards.
- Desirable: Degree-level qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
