Position Overview
Division of Urgent Care
Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine
Full-time Role - 10 Sessions Weekly
Salary: Specialty Doctor £ - annually
This full-time position is based within the Countess of Chester Hospital and involves a structured job plan comprising 10 Programmed Activities. Opportunities for additional Programmed Activities may arise, contingent upon job plan agreements and participation in the out-of-hours rota.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Medicine Registrar on the on-call rota, working alongside four other specialty doctors in a dynamic and expanding elderly care department. The role includes rotations through a hyperacute stroke unit, a general elderly medicine ward, and a frailty unit, providing essential support to Elderly Medicine Consultants in patient care and assessments.
Main Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be appointed full-time within the Care of the Elderly Team, ensuring adequate coverage for general inpatients and the acute frailty unit. Consideration will be given to applicants interested in part-time or job-share arrangements.
The primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments of new patients
- Monitoring complex medical conditions
- Planning ongoing medical treatment and necessary outpatient investigations
- Supporting consultant-led ward rounds
- Providing cross-cover as needed
- Participating in the registrar General Internal Medicine rota
The post holder will benefit from shared office space, access to computer facilities, and secretarial support.
