Conservation Policy Specialist

Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is seeking a highly skilled Conservation Policy Officer to support the expansion of our policy activities, including CITES and CBD initiatives. The successful candidate will provide project support and coordination for two exciting projects focused on data gathering for African timber species and a behaviour change campaign tackling the illegal plant trade.
About the RoleWe are looking for a candidate with project management, conservation policy, communication, and networking experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a conservation or scientific organisation, having played integral roles in conservation/science projects, ideally in the international NGO sector. The post holder will demonstrate sensitivity to complex, multicultural, and multinational institutions and structures.
Key Responsibilities- Provide project support and coordination for two new projects
- Support the expansion of BGCI's policy activities
- Collaborate with international partners and stakeholders
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies
- Contribute to the development of policy briefs and reports
- Project management experience in a conservation or scientific organisation
- Conservation policy, communication, and networking skills
- Proven track record in project coordination and management
- Ability to work in a multicultural and multinational environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
BGCI offers a competitive salary of £27,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a 12-month fixed appointment with potential to extend, depending on funding. The role is full-time (35 hours per week), with hybrid working considered.
