Job Title: Senior Data Scientist - Biotechnology Innovator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our computational team and play a key role in driving our data ambitions. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for transforming broad scientific goals into clear, well-defined issues and working closely with laboratory scientists to evaluate trade-offs, shape experimentation, and ensure the production of valuable data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scientific Goal Definition: Transform broad scientific goals into clear, well-defined issues that drive our research and development efforts.
  • Collaboration with Laboratory Scientists: Work closely with laboratory scientists to evaluate trade-offs, shape experimentation, and ensure the production of valuable data.
  • Statistical Techniques: Utilize statistical techniques to plan efficient laboratory experiments and identify meaningful outcomes.
  • Omics Data Preparation: Collaborate closely with bioinformaticians to prepare omics data for use in subsequent machine learning models.
  • Machine Learning Methodologies: Drive research and development of machine learning methodologies for modeling microbial communities and the emergence of significant microorganisms.
  • Predictive Modeling: Implement predictive modeling techniques to expedite the exploration for novel microbes, guide their cultivation, and stimulate metabolite production.
  • Software Development: Aid in enhancing our software platform, which is critical for managing data flow and accessibility.
  • Technical Guidance: Offer technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Requirements:
  • A PhD in data science, computational biology, mathematics, bioinformatics, or a related field within the STEM disciplines.
  • Professional research or work experience in biotechnology with a computational emphasis.
  • Proficiency in statistical modeling and machine learning techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and experience with data science and machine learning libraries.
  • Bioinformatics familiarity and experience with data commonly used in the field.
  • Industry experience in collaborative software development.
