Job Description

Pertemps Bond is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our team in a permanent role. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating a selection of manual and CNC-based machinery for metal processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating Machinery: Operate a variety of manual and CNC-based machinery for metal processing, including CNC drills, plasma machines, and laser cutters.
  • Steel Processing: Process steel to customers' requirements and tolerances, working within the company's quality system to ensure full traceability of customer orders.
  • Quality Control: Understand how to read drawings, orders, and follow verbal instructions, being available to train others in this area.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Operate forklifts, Combilifts, and cranes safely and in a controlled manner, ensuring daily checks are performed on equipment before starting a shift.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load and unload plate and parts from plasma and laser machines.
  • Measuring and Identifying: Identify and locate different steel products using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Cleanliness and Reporting: Keep machines and work areas clean and tidy, reporting any accidents, incidents, machine faults, or breakdowns to the relevant personnel.
  • Training and Development: Attend all training courses when required, following all safe systems of work and identifying and reporting any shortcomings.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience in operating CNC machinery, welding, and operating Combilifts is essential.
  • Skills: Ability to read drawings, orders, and follow verbal instructions, with a strong understanding of quality control and safety procedures.
  • Education: Relevant qualifications or training in machine operation, quality control, or a related field is desirable.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a variety of shift options available, including day, late, and night shifts. Own transport is essential due to the location of the site.

Pertemps Bond offers a competitive salary, depending on experience and shift selected, with great company benefits and a discretionary bonus. Optional overtime is paid at time and a half.
