About The Riverside Group

We are a leading house building organisation seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Head of Land and Development. As a key member of our management team, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to develop and implement business strategies, ensuring effective management of key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the pre-planning process to ensure viable planning applications are prepared and submitted in line with business plan timescales.
  • Lead on the negotiation of S106 and CIL contributions with local authorities.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with landowners, land agents, and consultants.
  • Manage the predevelopment process, including land identification, pre-planning, planning, and mobilisation stages.
  • Lead on risk and opportunity reviews throughout the predevelopment stage.
  • Regularly review standard house types and building fabric specifications to ensure they are legally compliant, commercially advantageous, and meet buyer needs.
  • Monitor and investigate the implementation of new construction techniques such as MMC and sustainable product innovations.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in a house building pre-development (land, technical, commercial) management position within an established house building organisation.
  • Proven ability to provide inspirational leadership.
  • Experience of managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and government regulations.
  • Degree level or equivalent in a related discipline.
  • High commercial acumen with the ability to work strategically and at pace.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Results driven with the ability to manage conflicting stakeholder priorities.
  • Proactive approach with the capability to work flexibly and adapt to particular situations.
