Senior Commercial Manager
Location: London

We are collaborating with a well-established client at Kenton Black, who is experiencing significant growth and is eager to enhance their commercial team by adding a Senior Commercial Manager to oversee all commercial dimensions of substantial projects in London.


Our client is a prominent M&E and Telecoms contractor operating within the civil engineering and rail sectors, engaged in numerous major projects across the region.

This Senior Commercial Manager position will report directly to the Head of Commercial and will be the lead on the client's flagship project in central London. The organization boasts a robust order book for the upcoming years, with further expansion anticipated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the work-winning team to assess and identify risks and responsibilities within tender documentation and related contractual terms.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies for both pre-tender and post-tender phases.
  • Take a proactive role in facilitating the transition of projects from tendering to active execution.
  • Define the scope of work and contractual responsibilities, ensuring compliance through the interpretation of contract documents.
  • Provide guidance on various standard forms of contracts utilized in construction projects, addressing key provisions including the rights and obligations of involved parties.
  • Quantify and estimate costs associated with construction activities.
  • Negotiate contractual agreements and manage any potentially burdensome contractual obligations.
  • Oversee contract administration, offering advice on contractual issues and drafting contractual/legal correspondence.
  • Ensure financial and commercial oversight, including the preparation of profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, KPIs, CVRs, and Cost to Complete assessments.
  • Evaluate the competencies of direct reports, ensuring they receive appropriate training, qualifications, and support to fulfill their commercial responsibilities.
  • Be accountable for the timely execution of essential HR functions within the Commercial team, including annual performance reviews and succession planning.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of development programs and employee training initiatives.
