We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our client, a reputable building contractor based in the UK. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and clients on construction sites.
Key Responsibilities- Create, update, and enforce company-wide health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Identify potential hazards on construction sites and conduct regular risk assessments to minimize the likelihood of accidents or injuries.
- Regularly visit construction sites to ensure adherence to safety protocols, and identify and correct unsafe practices.
- Organize and conduct safety training sessions for all construction workers, supervisors, and contractors, covering topics such as proper equipment use, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures.
- Investigate any accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions reported on-site, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for preventing future incidents.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid protocols, ensuring all personnel are aware of their roles during emergencies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in occupational health and safety regulations and ensure the construction site remains compliant with all legal requirements.
- Foster a culture of safety by encouraging open communication, reporting of hazards, and active participation in safety initiatives among all employees.
- Work closely with project managers to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution, ensuring that safety is prioritized throughout the construction process.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all safety-related activities, including training logs, incident reports, inspection checklists, and compliance documentation.
- Proven experience in health and safety management in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
