About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Actuary to join our team at Canada Life, specializing in Capital and Liquidity Management. As a key member of our actuarial team, you will play a crucial role in determining, managing, and optimizing the regulatory and economic capital and liquidity requirements for our companies in the UK Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capital and Liquidity Management: Contribute to the production and maintenance of the methodology for the calculation of economic capital and liquidity, contributing to our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support the production and review of methodology used to determine regulatory capital requirements, ensuring proper implementation in models and results produced for regulatory reporting purposes.
  • Risk Management: Support initiatives to optimize capital/liquidity requirements, reduce earnings volatility, and manage risk exposure in line with our company's risk appetite, tolerance limits, and overall ERM framework.
  • Sensitivity Testing: Contribute to the development and delivery of Stress and Scenario Testing (SST) results, required as part of an effective ERM framework.
  • Team Development: Contribute to the development of members of the Capital and Liquidity team to optimize team performance.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical skills, including financial reporting or Solvency II knowledge/experience.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Good understanding of the UK regulatory environment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to articulate technical and complex issues clearly to senior audiences, including non-actuaries.
  • Actuarial Expertise: Proven ability to apply actuarial techniques to business problems and see wider implications.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Qualifications

Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent).
