Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is a prominent healthcare organization in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide a comprehensive range of services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community services, and mental health support to a diverse population exceeding 1.15 million individuals.

As part of our commitment to enhancing work-life balance, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, without any alteration in remuneration. This change will also apply to part-time staff on a pro-rata basis. Please note that some service areas may require temporary adjustments to accommodate this new schedule, and additional hours may be necessary until full implementation.

This rewarding position entails collaborating with General Practitioners (GPs) and multidisciplinary teams in primary care to optimize medication management and ensure exceptional patient care. The role includes delivering pharmacotherapy services aligned with GP contracts and plays a vital part in assisting patients with their medication needs. As a patient-facing position, you will assume prescribing responsibilities and cultivate your own clinical caseload in accordance with the Achieving Excellence strategy objectives.

You will be an integral member of the East Dunbartonshire Pharmacy team, which aims to enhance the quality and cost-effectiveness of prescribing and medication use within the East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). Your collaboration with GPs, practice staff, community pharmacists, care home personnel, and other healthcare professionals will be essential in fostering high-quality, safe, and evidence-based prescribing practices.

In this role, you will engage directly with patients in various healthcare settings, including GP practices and care homes, to provide tailored clinical care and improve the safety and efficacy of their medications, including prescribing when appropriate. A solid clinical foundation, proficient IT skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are essential, along with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team. You will also participate in joint projects and initiatives within the HSCP, promoting awareness of medication management issues.

To qualify for this position, you must:

  • Hold a Master's Degree in Pharmacy or an equivalent qualification.
  • Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Be an independent prescriber or demonstrate a commitment to achieving this qualification.
  • Possess a minimum of two years of post-registration experience.

We encourage applications from all community sectors and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace culture. Our diverse workforce is a source of pride for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Additionally, as a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, we are committed to being a Forces Friendly Employer, recognizing the skills and experiences of military personnel during the recruitment process.
