Job Title: School Attendance Officer

4Recruitment Services is seeking a dedicated School Attendance Officer to join our team. As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the attendance and welfare of pupils in the community.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing an additional service for schools to manage their whole school attendance strategy
  • Investigating and responding to irregular school attendance at the earliest opportunity
  • Direct work with schools, families, and students in connection with irregular school attendance, including home visits
  • Contributing to or taking the lead in respect of multi-agency meetings when necessary
  • Identifying children 'at risk' of becoming persistently absent and instigating early interventions to support a resolution for irregular attendance
  • Implementing a graduated response for school attendance, including understanding the requirement to implement legal action for parents who do not respond to early intervention
Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the School Attendance Support Service with home visits to support attendance
  • Liaising with schools, professionals, and other agencies to address attendance concerns
  • Maintaining accurate and appropriate records in respect of casework
  • Contributing to the positive development and welfare of children and young people in Walsall
Requirements:

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • Recent relevant experience within an Education or statutory setting
  • Work with young people/Families and work with children
  • Act as an advocate for a child
  • Processes of Assessment/Planning Skills
  • Knowledge of Education Act 1996 & Children Act 1989
  • Understanding of the importance of child safeguarding related to irregular school attendance
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business purposes
