Job Summary

Three Bridges Recruitment is partnering with a renowned professional services organisation in Edinburgh to find a skilled Payroll Officer for a part-time (21 hours per week) permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the external payroll provider to develop and maintain strong relationships.
  • Work closely with the Finance department to deliver monthly and annual payroll reports and analyses.
  • Ensure payroll records are accurately maintained and promptly updated.
  • Revise payroll procedures as needed and communicate any changes to the HR and Finance teams.
  • Verify the accuracy of monthly payroll reports and ensure proper approval.
  • Maintain standardised documentation for audit compliance to mitigate potential risks.
  • Ensure statutory payments are properly documented and processed in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the HR department and other teams on payroll and budgetary matters.
  • Provide the Finance team with monthly reports comparing payroll budgets to actual costs.
  • Prepare monthly payroll forecasts and budgets.
  • Ensure timely payment of employees.
  • Conduct reconciliations between payroll data and the general ledger.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of reward and benefits, including payroll management, tax, pension, SSP, SMP procedures, legislation, and calculations.
  • Extensive experience in payroll, ideally supported by a relevant qualification.
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel and formula creation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • A positive and adaptable attitude, committed to delivering high standards in a fast-paced environment.
