About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at HMP The Mount, a male prison. As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise staff in the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, including plumbing and heating.
- Ensure compliance with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
- Work on commercial or industrial heating and water or building services systems.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure optimal system performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Provide guidance and training to junior staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
We are looking for a Mechanical Supervisor with:
- Five years' experience as a plumber or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
- Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water or building services systems.
- Experience of supervising staff.
- Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
- Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification - Desirable.
- Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management/project management) - Desirable.
- Good Health & Safety knowledge.
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
