Special Needs Educational Assistant

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Special Needs Educational Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a secondary school environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with students, helping them to navigate their educational journey and overcome challenges in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with SEN in engaging with the curriculum and fully participating in classroom activities.
  • Work in partnership with educators to create and execute Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Help prepare educational materials and resources that specifically address the diverse needs of SEN students.
  • Provide individualized or small group support during lessons, ensuring students stay engaged and motivated.
  • Track and document student progress, offering insights to teaching staff regarding individual successes and areas for growth.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young individuals with special educational needs is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of various types of SEN, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, and ADHD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people in their educational pursuits.
