Job Purpose

Provide essential support to the Digital Content Officer, contributing to a dynamic and engaging online presence. Your role will involve researching innovative content ideas, sourcing compelling visuals like videos and photos, and ensuring their timely posting and scheduling across various social media platforms.

Collaborating closely with Development and Alumni teams, you'll play a key part in crafting compelling content for impactful campaigns such as Giving Day, Graduations, and Telephone Campaigns.

Main Duties
  • Analyze current social media trends within your sector by conducting thorough research. Offer insightful suggestions for content improvements and generate fresh ideas tailored for social media platforms.
  • Meticulously check and upload content, ensuring it's scheduled effectively across diverse platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from Development and Alumni to contribute to the development of engaging content for large-scale projects like Giving Day, Telephone Campaigns, and Graduations.
  • Evaluate the performance of social media campaigns by reviewing key metrics and gathering valuable feedback from various sources.
  • Actively engage with diverse audiences – donors, alumni, students, and friends – to gather insightful feedback/data. Proactively source compelling content and highlight diverse voices within our community.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive weekly content planner, providing essential support to the Digital Content Officer in scheduling content effectively.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential Knowledge/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate the necessary competencies required for this role through previous experience in a similar position.
  • Alternatively, possess a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 4 in English and Mathematics (National 4) or equivalent, coupled with some experience in a relevant role.
  • A strong understanding of privacy and data protection principles, along with the ability to handle personal and confidential information responsibly.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to provide a high standard of customer care and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely to achieve the required standards.
  • Exceptional time-management skills and a reliable work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently when needed to complete assigned tasks effectively.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, demonstrating a willingness to learn and contribute.
  • Accurate keyboarding skills for efficient data entry.
  • A good understanding of key social media metrics for performance analysis.
  • Ability to self-proof written content for accuracy and clarity.
  • Basic content creation skills, including capturing photos, videos, and audio using a smartphone.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience working as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with computer software applications such as Teams and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience supporting social media platforms and engaging in community moderation activities.
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks effectively and meet deadlines consistently.
