Swindon, Swindon, United Kingdom Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

The EPR (Electronic Patient Record) Implementation Consultant will play a pivotal role in the deployment of the new EPR system across multiple healthcare trusts. This position is designed to offer specialized assistance to both clinical and administrative teams, facilitating their readiness for the EPR rollout and the associated transformations in operational practices.

We are looking for candidates with a background in the NHS who possess experience in guiding and motivating teams through transitions. Ideal applicants will have operational insights and change management expertise that will help foster a cultural acceptance of the changes within the organization.

The successful candidate will collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure that through structured and focused engagement, colleagues are prepared to leverage the full capabilities of the EPR system.

Key Responsibilities

The selected individual will work closely with local workstreams and clinical teams to ensure that priorities are aligned with the overarching program objectives. Supporting staff in the development and enhancement of the new EPR system for all clinical services is a primary focus, with an emphasis on improving patient safety, care quality, and overall patient experience.

As part of a Senior Change Team, the postholder will provide mentorship and coaching to all members involved in the Implementation Program. They will also be responsible for identifying and planning change initiatives that will deliver measurable financial, operational, and social benefits, all aligned with specific KPIs established by the relevant teams.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing change networks that consist of workstream leaders, subject matter experts, EPR advocates, and super users across designated groups and departments.
  • Providing specialized support to understand local clinical and operational workflow requirements.
  • Analyzing, documenting, and proposing solutions for care pathways in collaboration with end users.
  • Contributing to workstream plans and executing assigned tasks effectively.
  • Acting as a liaison between clinical and operational services, various IT teams, and system vendors.
  • Providing input into the overall EPR Change Management Strategy and ensuring alignment of workstream plans.
  • Leading sessions with multiple stakeholders, resolving or escalating conflicts where resistance to change arises.
  • Conducting workshops and delivering presentations to diverse audiences, participating in various program-specific EPR events.
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office and specialized software tools to create necessary documentation.
  • Collaborating with workstream leaders to ensure the production and approval of process maps, protocols, and full business requirements.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of EPR Champions and Super Users across all areas.
  • Supporting the end-user training program.
  • Continuously identifying opportunities for system improvements and collaborating with relevant teams to implement enhancements.
