Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Spacecraft Systems Engineer specializing in Space Sustainability. This role involves spearheading spacecraft mission and system design initiatives, focusing on scalable solutions for satellite in-orbit servicing, space situational awareness, end-of-life strategies, and active debris removal.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting mission analysis and modeling for spacecraft missions.
  • Creating mission-level testing and verification strategies.
  • Ensuring configuration management of systems documentation and work.
  • Leading a multidisciplinary team to successfully deliver project objectives.
  • Supporting bid writing, design development, and analysis during initial phases, extending support into the testing phase with Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT).
  • Providing assistance with in-orbit commissioning of satellites post-launch, supporting the spacecraft operations team.


Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a Systems Engineering capacity focused on satellite platform architecture.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the systems and project engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition to verification.
  • Familiarity with various subsystems and engineering teams, including GNC (AOCS, ADCS), astrodynamics, C&DH/OBDH, EPS, RCS (propulsion), COM (communications), software, and ground segment operations.
  • Experience in developing systems engineering documentation in collaboration with Project Managers, including requirements, CONOPS, review gate materials, test and verification plans/procedures, DDVP, ICDs, equipment lists, FMECA, and FTAs.
  • Knowledge of the AIT process, encompassing manufacture, assembly, functional, and environmental testing.
  • Proficiency in commonly used engineering and modeling software (e.g., ModelSim, Matlab, STK) and/or coding and scripting languages (e.g., Python).
