Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Primary School Support

Prospero Teaching is working with Primary Schools in Middlesborough to find dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a full-time or part-time capacity. As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and support them in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis, promoting their engagement and participation in learning activities.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive manner, working closely with Class Teachers to develop strategies and learning activities that promote pupil progress.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Class Teachers, parents, and outside agencies to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prepare resources for learning activities and lessons, demonstrating a commitment to providing high-quality support.
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunch times as required, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Liaise with parents and outside agencies to discuss progress and share information, promoting a collaborative approach to supporting pupils.
Requirements:
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service) or willingness to undergo a new DBS check.
  • A recognised Childcare-based qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • An ability to build positive relationships and rapport with pupils and staff, demonstrating a resilient and proactive approach.
  • Experience of supporting pupils in a School setting, with a strong understanding of SEN and behaviour management.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils, with a genuine passion for supporting young people to flourish in education.
