Job Description
Purpose of the role
To provide independent oversight and challenge of Operational Risk elements across Barclays, ensuring compliance with the bank's Operational Risk Framework, Policies, and Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and manage interconnected and emerging risks to support the business in understanding and mitigating risks aligned with their strategy and objectives.
- Analyze operational risk data to identify trends, patterns, and emerging risks, providing insights to inform risk-based decisions.
- Assess business processes, systems, and controls to evaluate the likelihood and impact of identified risks, ensuring effective risk management.
- Monitor internal and external sources to stay informed about potential Operational Risks, providing timely risk-based input to senior management.
- Review and challenge first-line activities, including Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), Risk Events, and attendance at key Risk and Control meetings, ensuring accurate reflection of the business risk position.
- Provide risk-based input into 1st Line Projects, Initiatives, and Strategic decision making, supporting the control and governance agenda.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation's functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
- Collaborate with other areas of work to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
Requirements
- Understanding of Operational Risk and control, preferably from risk, control, audit, compliance, or related fields.
- Experience in Retail Banking or Financial Services.
