Logistics Sector Manager

The Department for Business and Trade is seeking a Logistics Sector Manager to support the growth and development of the logistics sector. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the sector's future and driving economic growth.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the logistics sector, including its strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with key logistics companies to understand their priorities, challenges, and drivers for future investment and growth.
- Assess the capability of the UK-based supply chain to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for export and investment.
- Engage with sector trade bodies and other industry stakeholders to stay up-to-date on the latest developments and trends.
- Collaborate with DBT HQ teams to understand cross-cutting issues that impact the logistics system, such as airports, rail, maritime, automotive, skills, planning, and supply chain resilience.
- Work with government departments to bring business intelligence to the table and influence policy development to support sector growth.
- Lead on drafting briefings and correspondence to support the relationship between industry, Ministers, and government officials.
- Develop an understanding of UK investment opportunities to support regional development, with input from DBT investment and regional colleagues.
- Support the delivery of strategically important logistics projects.
Essential Criteria
- Experience of building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience of working with or in an infrastructure sector.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
