About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Engineer I to join our Product Engineering team at Gooch & Housego. As a Product Engineer I, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of our fibre optic products, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Product Development: Design, develop, and test fibre optic products, including active and passive components and modules, to meet customer requirements and specifications.
  2. Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  3. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet the required quality standards, including ISO 9001 and AS9100. Identify and implement quality improvements, and lead the development of PFMEA's and risk mitigation strategies.
  4. Technical Support: Provide technical support to other areas of the business, including Project, Product, and Process Engineering teams, as required.
  5. Knowledge Management: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the NPI process, quality management systems, and industry trends, and share knowledge with the team to ensure continuous improvement.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Optics, Electronics, Mechanical, or Software) or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in technical design, process development, and project management, preferably in the fibre optic industry.
  3. Skills: Strong understanding of project management methods and tools, including Gantt charts and project status tracking. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team environment.
  4. Knowledge: Familiarity with quality management systems, including ISO 9001 and AS9100, and experience with risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
