Position Title: Building Maintenance Technician

Location: Site Based

Core Working Hours: 08:00am - 18:00pm

Shift Rotation:
5 days on - 3 days off (4 cycles)
4 days on - 4 days off (3 cycles)

Role Overview:
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing both scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general carpentry tasks.
  • Maintain and repair fire doors.
  • Conduct weekly fire alarm inspections.
  • Execute weekly tap flushing procedures.
  • Clean and service Air Handling Units (AHUs).
  • Carry out basic plumbing and drainage repairs.
  • Perform patch repairs on wall and floor surfaces, including tiles, carpets, and screeds.
  • Repair suspended ceilings.
  • Install and maintain shelving and racking systems.
  • Manage lock changes and repairs.
  • Engage in painting and decorating tasks.
  • Work according to the site’s shift schedule.
  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance in line with the company's preventative maintenance program.
  • Execute planned maintenance activities with professionalism and quality.
  • Generate technical and situational reports as necessary.
  • Utilize technology systems to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Complete tasks in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Provide first-line out-of-hours support for the site.
  • Document activities in accordance with company procedures accurately and promptly.
  • Assist management in preparing quotations by providing precise information for additional work.
  • Participate in team meetings and briefings as required.
  • Submit accurate timesheet information weekly and punctually.
  • Ensure the company is represented positively at all times.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests as directed by the Help Desk or management.
  • Report significant site issues or incidents to the line manager immediately upon discovery.
  • Oversee subcontractors working on-site.
  • Understand and adhere to all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
  • Handle, store, and utilize materials and equipment in compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Actively engage in health and safety processes as required by company policies, including accident investigations, reporting, risk assessments, and audits.
  • Follow any other reasonable instructions from the Contract Manager or their supervisors.
  • Cooperate with the company to fulfill its moral and legal responsibilities.
(Additional training will be provided as necessary)

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Completion of a Fabric Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated practical experience post-apprenticeship.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to delivering high-quality service to clients.
  • Willingness to work flexibly as part of a team.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Proactive approach to achieving operational excellence.
  • Competence in IT and report writing.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining clarity and focus to meet client service requirements within deadlines.
