We are excited to announce an opening for a Smart Metering Senior Performance Analyst to join our Performance and Analytical Reporting team focused on Smart Metering at Yorkshire Water, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional service to our customers.

In Yorkshire, we ensure that over 5.4 million residents and countless visitors can depend on our services for clean and safe drinking water, as well as effective wastewater management.

We deliver essential water and wastewater services throughout the Yorkshire region, playing a vital role in the health, well-being, and prosperity of the area.
With new environmental regulations, significant investment opportunities, and evolving customer expectations, this is an exciting time to explore possibilities within the water sector.
Yorkshire Water aims to reduce leakage, per capita consumption, and non-household demand, having recently submitted proposals to the environmental regulator DEFRA/EA and financial regulator OFWAT for funding over the next five years.
As part of these initiatives, we plan to replace 1.3 million customer meters with Smart Meters and install approximately 160,000 additional meters.
This transition involves moving from a monthly usage logging system, read every six months, to a model that provides hourly usage data with a six-hour delay, utilizing an Internet of Things network.
To maximize the potential of this data, we are establishing a dedicated team to explore future service enhancements, cost efficiencies, and new service offerings.
This team will be responsible for designing the complete transition for meter-related services, creating or modifying existing capabilities, establishing new processes, defining analytical requirements, enhancing data quality, effectively managing contracts with partners, and collaborating with technology teams to develop and implement solutions for smart metering by April 2025.
This role involves leading the smart metering performance and analytical reporting team to drive demand reduction through data insights and strategic interventions.
Your Role:
As the Smart Metering Senior Performance Analyst, you will:
Own the strategy for smart metering reporting requirements to facilitate demand reduction and effective contract management.
Lead all self-service data analytics initiatives using SQL and Power BI to create new reports as needed for the smart metering program.
Design and deliver monthly reporting KPIs and associated business processes to monitor supplier and contractor performance.
Ensure data quality by maintaining consistency in metering technical details across all corporate systems.Oversee the delivery of the smart metering reporting roadmap, collaborating with technology and data teams to provide cost-effective analytical solutions.
Continuously improve existing smart metering reports, automating manual processes where feasible in alignment with the AMP 8 Smart Metering vision.Manage a high-performing team using the Performance Excellence framework.
Support necessary business changes to ensure the successful integration of leakage and metering technologies for colleagues, customers, and key stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Extensive experience working with complex data sets and employing data analysis models.
Proficient in SQL data analysis or willing to learn (MS-SQL/Databricks - T-SQL, view and table design).
Significant experience with IT systems, including Excel and Power BI.
Strong technical analytical skills as a Data Analyst.
Experience in data management and manipulation.
Ability to review the work of others and foster effective working relationships.
Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in people leadership.
Familiarity with process mapping and business transformation.
Experience in a regulated environment.
Knowledge of smart metering technologies.
Understanding of leakage and per capita consumption.
