Job Summary:

Matchtech Technology is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical solutions for our clients in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and Development: Produce designs of various engineering structures, including fabricated structures, sheet metalwork, and machined components, to meet the needs of our clients.
  2. Design Documentation: Create general arrangement and assembly drawings/instructions as required, ensuring that all designs are thoroughly documented and meet the necessary standards.
  3. Bill of Materials: Take responsibility for bills of materials to support assemblies, ensuring that all necessary components are accurately listed and sourced.
  4. Design Integration: Ensure that mechanical designs include support for electrical and other system components, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration.
  5. Design Reviews and Sign-off: Participate in design reviews, new project kick-off meetings, and customer meetings as required, and be responsible for design sign-off to the manufacturing group and processing Engineering Change Requests (ECR's) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) through the document control system.
Requirements:
  1. Education and Experience: HNC or higher in mechanical engineering is preferred, although equivalent industrial experience will be considered.
  2. Design Experience: SolidWorks design experience is essential, with a proven track record in the design of fabrications, sheet metalwork, and machined components.
Key Skills and Experience:
  1. Design Expertise: Strong background in the creation of new design concepts for heavily fabricated products, with a deep understanding of the skills required to develop complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  2. Design for Manufacture: Experience of design for manufacture with a background in a production environment would be beneficial, as would the ability to work with other design packages such as Autodesk Inventor.
