Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Chemist to join our dynamic team of over 600 professionals. This role is crucial in contributing to major river-catchment scale projects and supporting the Thames Initiative Research Platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a significant body of work that advances river nutrient science.
  • Serve as lead author or key contributor to impactful publications and reports.
  • Write funding proposals to secure substantial financial support.
  • Manage environmental research projects effectively.
  • Oversee laboratory facilities and supervise laboratory technicians.
  • Participate in committees and panels to influence national and international scientific directions.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A PhD with additional post-doctoral experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A degree (2:1 or higher) or Master's in Chemistry, Environmental, or Geographical Sciences.
  • Experience in writing research proposals and securing funding.
  • Ability to interpret and model complex biogeochemical data.
  • Proven project management skills, including resource and risk management.
  • Strong leadership abilities to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills across various media.
  • A full UK (manual) driving licence.
  • A willingness to travel as required.
