As a valued member of our team, you'll play a vital role in analyzing hydrological data, developing innovative data products, and collaborating with researchers, software developers, and engineers.

Our Floods and Droughts Research Infrastructure (FDRI) project is at the forefront of environmental monitoring, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as gauging stations, soil moisture probes, ADCPs, and UAVs to collect comprehensive hydrological data.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with FDRI colleagues to understand user requirements and prioritize data product development.
  • Conducting research to define and develop innovative approaches for creating new data products.
  • Working with Research Software Engineers to implement data product development code within robust cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Documenting outputs and developing materials to enhance the uptake of FDRI data.
  • Engaging with end users to understand requirements and promote FDRI outputs through presentations and other channels.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research, develop your skills in hydrological data analysis and software development, and work alongside a talented team of experts.

We are looking for an individual with:

  • A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Computing, plus an MSc/PhD in a relevant subject or comparable work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrological processes, monitoring techniques, and UK hydrological data.
  • Experience in analyzing and processing environmental data at various scales.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in coding best practices (e.g., Python), including version control, testing, and documentation.
