Team Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Team Manager to join our client, a leading global insurance business in Colchester. As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for driving the performance of your team to exceed key measures such as retention, loss ratio performance, premium written, and workflow management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the evolution of segmentation within the Trading Underwriting Team and influence underwriters to embrace and lead change.
  • Strategic input into the running of the Trading Underwriting Team and conduct regular monthly team meetings for positive engagement.
  • Work closely with the Head of Broker and sustain relationships with Service Delivery Team Leaders to adhere to a collaborative approach across Operations and Distribution.
  • Pro-actively manage the servicing and retention of larger complex renewals.
  • Develop and maintain close, effective relationships with key stakeholders including Operations, Sales DU's, Branch Managers, and Sales Director.
  • Undertake resource planning and look for ways to improve the effectiveness of the Trading Underwriting Team, ensuring a culture of first-time resolution is prevalent throughout the team.
  • Actively assist with talent acquisition for the recruitment of experienced underwriters in line with current and future service developments.
  • Deliver a structured and tailored induction process for new joiners to the team.
  • Lead and coach your team to ensure their broker and customer interactions are continually developed in line with the Hiscox sales coaching framework.
  • Support and develop team members to ensure strong performers are stretched and appropriate action is taken against underperformance and undertake mid-year and end-of-year performance development reviews.
Requirements:
  • Previous people management experience within insurance would be an advantage, although candidates who can demonstrate when they have stepped up and displayed leadership behaviors will be considered.
  • Demonstrable drive, self-motivation, and determination to achieve results.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and leadership skills.
