Job Summary:

Serco Maritime is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Seafarer Deck Rating. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in deck operations, while working towards a Level 2 Seafarer Deck Rating qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist vessel crew in deck operations, including watchkeeping duties and routine maintenance.
  • Learn and perform tasks as required in the Able Seafarer (Deck) Training record book.
  • Successfully complete all training as required by the Able Seafarer Deck Apprentice Standard.
  • Maintain own safety and security, as well as that of others, the vessel, and its equipment.
  • Comply with the UK MCA's Merchant Navy Code of Conduct at all times.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for a UK passport.
  • Capable of obtaining an ENG1 Unrestricted Medical Certificate, including eyesight examination.
  • Academic qualifications: preferred A level Mathematics or equivalent T level, and minimum 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and Physical Based Science.
