Job Summary:

Serco Maritime is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Maritime Apprentice. As a key member of our deck department, you will be responsible for assisting vessel crew in deck operations and gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in deck operations, including watchkeeping duties and routine maintenance of the vessel and its equipment.
  • Learn and perform tasks as required in the Able Seafarer (Deck) Training record book.
  • Successfully complete all training as required by the Able Seafarer Deck Apprentice Standard.
  • Obtain the required sea service in the allocated time period.
  • Comply with the UK MCA's Merchant Navy Code of Conduct at all times.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for a UK passport.
  • Capable of obtaining an ENG1 Unrestricted Medical Certificate, including eyesight examination.
  • Academic qualifications: preferred A level Mathematics or equivalent T level, and minimum 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and Physical Based Science or equivalent qualifications from Scotland or Northern Ireland.
