Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rota Coordinator and Education Team Leader to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical staffing rotas and education team.

As a Rota Coordinator and Education Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating the administration of medical staffing rotas within our Cancer Services department, using Medical Health Roaster compliant rotas. You will also act as team lead for the education admin team, providing assistance and advice to new and existing users of the system.

Key responsibilities will include coordinating sickness, annual leave, study leave, and special leave for all medical staff, identifying and escalating risks with input and support from consultants, senior registrars, and the leadership team. You will also be responsible for dealing with swaps, shift time changes, and other roster changes, and recording them accurately on Medirota.

As a member of our team, you will work closely with other medical workforce coordinators in the department, providing cover where necessary, and mutual support at peak periods such as August changeover.

Qualifications, Training and Experience

We are looking for a candidate with a degree or equivalent knowledge, and at least educated to 'A' level standard and above. Proven literary and numeracy skills are essential, as well as experience of working with a range of people with different roles and levels of knowledge.

Highly competent with computer systems, especially with Microsoft products i.e. Excel and Database, is also required. Staff management, including management of sickness, absence, and performance, is a key aspect of this role.

Experience of working within the NHS, ideally working with medical and clinical staff, is highly desirable. Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with staff across all levels, self-motivation, flexibility, and team participation are also essential.
