Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor English at HMP Wandsworth

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to join our team at HMP Wandsworth. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a crucial role in helping our learners develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

About the Role

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons, tailoring your teaching to meet the needs of each individual learner. Your passion for education and dedication to our learners' success will make you a valuable asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver high-quality lessons across Functional Skills English programmes.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Assess learner needs and develop individualised learning plans.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support learners in achieving their qualifications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in functional skills education.
Requirements
  • A teaching qualification OR subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 - new standards)
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Track record of effective teaching in subject specialism
  • Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
