About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our dedicated team at Whittington Health NHS Trust. As a respiratory specialist, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding and compassionate physiotherapy treatment to patients in ICU and across Respiratory, General Acute, and Paediatric wards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide therapy provision across Respiratory and Critical Care services and general acute wards.
  2. Deliver clinical expertise in both the acute management of respiratory compromise and rehabilitation of patients following critical illness.
  3. Determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated, working autonomously.
  4. Represent Physiotherapy at the ITU Clinical Governance meeting.
  5. Be responsible for providing Paediatric respiratory physiotherapy cover, working in close collaboration with the Paediatric physiotherapy lead.
  6. Have delegated responsibility from the Respiratory Clinical Lead for the management and leadership of staff on the on-call rota, providing support and expert advice during working hours and some evenings and weekends.
  7. Be a skilled educator and lead the Respiratory Competency and On-call training programme for Band 5 and Band 6 rotational staff.

Requirements
  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Extensive post-graduate experience, including supervision/teaching of less experienced post-graduate staff within an acute respiratory setting.
  • Post-graduate experience in trauma/orthopaedic related work area appropriate to meet late shift and weekend working requirement.
  • Wide range of rotations at Band 5 and Band 6 level.
  • Experience of providing acute care in a hospital setting.
  • Previous participation on call and weekend work.
