Job Description

Legal & General Retail's Data Operations team is seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and implementing data solutions using modern ETL techniques and tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure data solutions are fit for purpose, GDPR compliant, and meet business requirements.
  • Develop and deploy data solutions that adhere to quality standards and deliver intended value.
  • Evolving data standards in an environment of continuous change, facilitating team sessions to improve and keep them current and compliant.
  • Identifying and resolving issues with data solutions, providing support to colleagues as needed.
  • Participating in team and project planning activities, working within an agile delivery framework as part of a Scrum team.
  • Facilitating refinement of tasks in the Product Backlog, guiding and supporting the team in breaking down deliveries into technical data engineering components.
  • Liaising with end customers, Architect, and Product Owner to translate business goals into compliant specifications.
  • Providing mentorship and support to junior and mid-level data engineers, acting as a role model to colleagues across the Data Ops function.
Requirements:
  • Relevant professional qualifications in Data Engineering or related specialism.
  • Industry-recognised badges/certificates on tools such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse/Data Factory, DBT Cloud, and Azure DevOps.
  • Industry-recognised badges/certificates on methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban, DevOps/DataOps, and Dimensional Data Modelling (Kimball).
