Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support our operations team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with production and engineering teams to maintain and enhance our product offerings manufactured both domestically and internationally. Key responsibilities include supply chain management, change management, and ensuring precision in item creation and manufacturing bills of materials (BOM) across PLM and ERP systems. The role requires the following qualifications:

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and the ability to create and interpret 2D drawings.
  • A comprehensive understanding of design for manufacturability.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including woodwork, metal fabrication, and injection molding.
  • Attention to detail, particularly regarding customer satisfaction and product safety.
  • Practical skills in workshop environments.
  • Familiarity with change management protocols.
  • Experience with PLM and manufacturing ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities:

New Product Introduction:

  • Plan production workflows, spatial requirements, and equipment arrangements.
  • Design fixtures and tools for assembly operations.
  • Create production documentation, including assembly guidelines.
  • Conduct pilot builds to troubleshoot and resolve issues before full-scale production.
  • Evaluate pilot builds of finished products from contract manufacturers to ensure accuracy in work instructions.

Change Management:

  • Analyze production issues and customer feedback to generate problem reports with corrective action proposals.
  • Collaborate with the change management team to confirm and implement corrective measures.
  • Update production line processes as necessary.
  • Revise documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support Existing Product Production:

  • Re-source and approve components from alternative suppliers as part of the engineering team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production tools and practices.

Maintain Manufacturing Bills of Material:

  • Create manufacturing BOMs using the WindChill PLM system based on current engineering BOMs.
  • Oversee the migration of manufacturing BOMs into the ERP system.
  • Update existing BOMs in WindChill PLM, ensuring accurate stock management and subsequent ERP updates.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Engage with key suppliers to discuss new product requirements and best design practices.
  • Collaborate with the design team to provide production engineering insights during the design phase.
  • Ensure effective communication of project timelines, material deliveries, and key deadlines to the broader team.
  • Maintain ERP master data to support production, planning, procurement, and sales teams.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to present solutions grounded in sound engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in a professional 3D CAD software, such as Creo Parametric, with the capability to create 3D solid models.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings for parts and assemblies, ensuring compliance with quality control standards.
  • Experience with PLM systems for document control and change management.
  • Capability to construct jigs and fixtures using basic machine tools, with adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing ERP systems, including the creation of parts, assemblies, and exploded BOMs.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a full-time framework of 37.5 hours per week, structured around standard working hours.
