Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Optical Engineer with a specialization in head-up displays (HUD) and head/helmet-mounted displays (HMD). The successful candidate will possess a robust background in optical engineering and be a British national eligible for security clearance. This role involves working on advanced technologies and contributing to the development of innovative projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop HUD and HMD systems tailored for diverse applications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate HUD/HMD systems into broader platforms.
  • Engage in research and development to enhance existing technologies and devise new solutions.
  • Conduct optical design and analysis utilizing sophisticated simulation tools.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and reports.
  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for HUD/HMD systems.
  • Participate in project planning and management initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of HUD and HMD systems or instrument clusters.
  • Strong grasp of optical design principles and technologies.
  • Proficiency in optical simulation software such as Zemax or Code V.
  • Experience with the integration of hardware and software.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Background in laser projection technologies.
  • Must be a British national and eligible for security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies.
  • Knowledge of display technologies and human factors engineering.
  • Familiarity with military or aerospace applications.
