Job Title: Locum Band 7 Community Diabetes Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Locum Band 7 Community Diabetes Nurse to join our community healthcare team based in Camberley, Surrey.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will specialize in providing expert diabetes care and support to patients in community settings. The role involves delivering comprehensive diabetes management, education, and self-care strategies to patients, while also working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care and improved patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert assessment and management of patients with Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes in the community.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to optimize blood glucose control and prevent complications.
  • Adjust and manage insulin therapy, oral hypoglycemic agents, and other treatments as appropriate.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as blood glucose monitoring, foot checks, and cardiovascular risk assessments.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Specialist qualification or certification in diabetes care.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience, including experience in diabetes management.
  • Excellent clinical knowledge of diabetes care, treatment modalities, and patient education.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
Desirable:
  • Experience working in a community or outpatient setting.
  • Previous experience in insulin pump therapy, CGMs, or diabetes technology.
  • Experience in leading diabetes health promotion initiatives.
