Principal Engineer - Mechanical Systems (Marine Applications)

In the role of Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and support of rotating machinery and power generation systems tailored for marine applications. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of safe and economically viable solutions. Reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Manager, you will manage projects from the initial inquiry phase through to completion, with a strong emphasis on system integration, engineering processes, and quality control.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and integrate electro-mechanical systems while strictly adhering to safety regulations.
  • Plan and execute engineering tasks to align with project timelines, budget constraints, and quality benchmarks.
  • Conduct various reviews (including phase, design, ILS, FMEA) and serve as the chairperson.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain quotations and provide site support.
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with the necessary quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical system design, structural analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Strong knowledge of rotor dynamics, thermal dynamics, and fluid dynamics.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CREO.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and power generation systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in project management.
  • Familiarity with active magnetic bearings.
  • Eligibility for SC security clearance with sole British citizenship.
