We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Estimator to join our team at RSK Group, a leading provider of environmental and engineering services. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing accurate and comprehensive estimates for a wide range of steelwork projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Development: Develop detailed estimates for steelwork projects, ensuring alignment with our pricing strategy and project requirements.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage time across multiple concurrent estimates to ensure timely submissions that meet agreed deadlines and KPI requirements.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Review and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Basis of Estimate: Produce comprehensive basis of estimate documents, including the creation of assumptions, exemptions, and risk identification.
  • Risk Management: Develop and maintain Project Risk Registers to identify and mitigate potential project risks.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Technical & Design teams, and Commercial personnel throughout the estimate development process.
  • Reporting: Report to the Lead Estimator on clarifications, questions, and any challenges encountered after completing an estimate.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project alignment.
  • Project Preparation: Prepare work by gathering necessary information and requirements, setting priorities based on direction from the Estimating Manager, Senior Estimators, and own initiative.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating prices.
  • Quality Service Maintenance: Uphold quality service standards by adhering to organisational protocols and standards.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in fabrication estimating, preferably within an engineering or construction environment.
  • Experience of working within the Waste and Water industry, with some practical/site experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information.
  • Competency in MS Excel, with experience of MS Project or P6 Primavera planning software.
