Precision Machining Specialist

Job Overview:

The Precision Machining Specialist will oversee the daily operations of the 5 Axis CNC Machine Centre. This role requires collaboration with fellow operators and various departments to ensure that the machining section meets production demands, reporting directly to the Machining Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the 5 axis machine centre (Mazak & Matsuura).
  • Execute machining tasks for intricate aluminium and stainless steel fabrications.
  • Assist in the setup and validation of machining programs alongside Engineers.
  • Optimize and maintain machine tooling to achieve precise drawing tolerances.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the line manager.
  • Promote and uphold excellent housekeeping standards in the workspace.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship, such as City & Guilds or BTEC Level 3.
  • Experience with vertical 5 axis machine centres, preferably Matsuura & Mazak.
  • Background in Aerospace or Oil/Gas industries is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with various measuring and inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of PC Dmis and CMM operations is a plus.
  • Proficient in machining aluminium and stainless steel fabrications.
  • Understanding of adaptive machining techniques, particularly Renishaw probing.
  • Awareness of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as ACE, TPS, or Six Sigma is beneficial.
