In collaboration with Sport Wales, WWSP is dedicated to enhancing the landscape of community sports and increasing participation in physical activities throughout the region.

General Responsibilities:

  • Delivering effective and strategic leadership for the West Wales Sports Partnership (WWSP).
  • Upholding the vision, mission, values, and objectives of WWSP, ensuring alignment in all activities.
  • Utilizing networks to enhance fundraising efforts and support organizational growth.
  • Acting in the best interests of WWSP regarding assets, legal obligations, and management as outlined in the Board Handbook.
  • Establishing a schedule for significant decision-making processes within the Partnership Board.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and governance standards.
  • Promoting responsible management of financial and human resources.
  • Developing and implementing strategies and policies that align with WWSP's objectives.
  • Monitoring and managing risk effectively within the organization.
  • Establishing transparent internal controls and systems for accountability to stakeholders.
  • Fostering positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Acting with integrity and prioritizing the interests of WWSP at all times.

Position One - Board Member with Financial Expertise:
  • Providing strategic financial guidance to assist the Partnership Board in achieving its goals.
  • Aiding in the identification and management of financial risks.
  • Ensuring the financial sustainability and robustness of WWSP.
  • Guaranteeing compliance with statutory and regulatory financial obligations.
  • Upholding high standards of financial governance and transparency in decision-making.
  • Serving as an authorized signatory for the Partnership Board.
  • Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management.

Position Two - Board Member with Marketing/Communications Expertise:
  • Providing strategic direction for the development of the WWSP brand and its offerings.
  • Collaborating with the Board and stakeholders to cultivate regional ownership of the brand.
  • Supporting the marketing and communications strategy of WWSP.
  • Working with the team to identify target groups and develop insights for regional priorities.
  • Assisting with public relations activities during events and regional initiatives.
  • Contributing to commercial packages related to brand alignment and marketing opportunities.
  • Providing input for press releases and marketing campaigns.

Candidate Profile:
  • Proven success in a regional or collaborative organization, charity, or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity.
  • Experience in leading change initiatives.
  • Background in strategic planning within board or management roles.
  • Knowledge of the Welsh/Physical Activity sector.
  • Understanding of Regional Sports Partnerships and their potential.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience aligned with the specific role requirements.

Additional Information:

These are voluntary positions with a term of three years. The Board will initially convene monthly during its first year, with a review after 12 months to assess its operational needs.
