About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Galliford Try. As an Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting the business through the submission of accurate and competitive tenders to satisfy client requirements and ensure the company secures adequate new business to achieve targeted turnover and profit levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare enquiry schedules and liaise with the procurement team to select appropriate companies for quotations.
  • Obtain sufficient quotations to enable valid commercial judgments at tender finalization meetings.
  • Provide all necessary information for the review of contract conditions, insurance, bonds, and warranties.
  • Produce analytical rate build-up information for Bills of Quantities in an accurate and well-detailed format.
  • Continually refine analytical cost data derived from feedback.
  • Identify and analyze opportunities to give a commercial advantage to tenders.
  • Identify and analyze risks and produce a risk register for each tender.
  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates.
  • Prepare commercial documents for tender submission.
  • Attend tender finalization meetings, present relevant cost information, and complete the tender as instructed.
About You
  • Fully conversant with the Microsoft suite of packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of estimating processes utilizing a computerized analytical estimating system, such as Conquest.
  • Experience in risk management techniques.
  • Previous relevant business experience or transferable skills gained in other areas.
  • Equivalent of Level NVQ or Certificate Level qualification. Graduate entry point.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative attitude.
  • Influencing, negotiation, and delegation skills.
  • Critical analysis and decision-making skills.
  • Manages time efficiently, plans, and prioritizes work activities.
  • Understanding of Conditions of Contract and Specifications.
  • Commercial awareness and technical knowledge.
  • Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures.
