Volunteer - Ward Companion - Glasgow Hospice

We are seeking volunteers to support patients and families on the ward in our Glasgow Hospice by providing companionship and emotional support. As a volunteer, you will visit with inpatients, offer a listening ear, and give patients' loved ones the chance to have a short break.
Key Responsibilities- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families
- Offer a listening ear and engage in conversations with patients and their loved ones
- Support patients and families by signposting them to other services and staff as needed
- Participate in the evaluation of the service and provide feedback
- Represent the Companion Service positively and maintain confidentiality
- Friendly, sensitive, and a good listener
- Patience, empathy, self-awareness, and emotional stability
- Excellent listening skills and ability to build rapport with others
- Commitment and reliability, with the ability to keep appointments and volunteer for up to 3 hours a week
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and flexibility in meeting individual needs
- Make a direct positive impact on the experience of people receiving care in our hospice
- Be part of an innovative way of working and contribute to the development of a new project
- Gain experience in a charity environment and develop your skills
- Receive induction, training, support, and supervision in your role
