Job Description

Role Summary:

The Open University UK is seeking an exceptional leader to join our senior management team as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This is a unique opportunity to shape and drive our institution's commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and accessible environment for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of our equity, diversity, and inclusion strategy, ensuring alignment with our institutional goals and values.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the EDI team, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect across the University.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to embed EDI principles into all aspects of our work, including academic planning, student experience, and staff development.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key external partners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Contribute to the Vice-Chancellor's Executive, providing expert advice on EDI matters and informing strategic decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Senior academic or management experience, with a proven track record of driving institutional change and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve our EDI goals.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational and external environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders and teams, building effective relationships and partnerships.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to EDI, with the ability to provide expert advice and guidance.
