As an Ambulance Care Assistant, you will be responsible for transporting elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.

Key duties include:

  • Ensuring timely transportation to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centers, day units, or other places of care.
  • Assessing risks and adopting safe working practices to ensure patient safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues, and others.
  • Undertaking a full range of PTS duties, including stretcher work and wheelchair clamping, patient assessment, manual handling, oxygen therapy, BLS and AED, airway, and circulatory management, medical and trauma-related emergencies, and basic physiological knowledge.
  • Maintaining a high standard of vehicle and equipment serviceability, cleanliness, and permanent readiness.
  • Completing all statistical information and patient journey records neatly and on time as instructed.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to be:

  • Committed to patient care.
  • An effective communicator and experience of communicating with others in what can often be emotional circumstances.
  • A calm, considerate, and careful driver with no more than six penalty points on your license.
  • A natural flair for team working and collaboration.
  • Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
  • Able to work flexible shifts.
  • Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
